EV chargers, solar and home batteries are some of the best jobs an electrician can win. They're higher value than a callout, they're planned rather than rushed, and the customer often comes back for more.

The demand is real. Every month, Australians search "ev charger installation" about 2,600 times and "solar battery installation" about 2,300 times. Searches for the solar battery rebate run to around 17,000 a month.

But most electrician websites have one services page with "EV chargers" and "solar" listed in a row of bullet points. That won't win these jobs. Here's what will.

Why these jobs need their own marketing

Someone with a tripped safety switch wants an electrician now. They call the first decent result. Someone buying a battery or an EV charger behaves differently. They research for days or weeks, compare quotes and ask a lot of questions first.

Here's what Australians search each month, according to Ahrefs data from October 2026:

Search Monthly searches
solar battery rebate 17,000
ev charger installation 2,600
solar battery installation 2,300
home battery rebate 1,400
ev charger installation cost 700
battery rebate qld 600
home ev charger installation 450

Those are national numbers, so your local share is smaller. But notice what people ask about: cost, rebates and installation. Your marketing needs to answer those questions better than anyone else in your area.

Build a dedicated page for each job

Google ranks pages, not websites. If you want to show up for "EV charger installation Toowoomba", you need a page about EV charger installation in Toowoomba. The same goes for solar and batteries.

EV charger installation

A good EV charger page answers the questions a new EV owner has. Cover:

Add photos of real installs in local garages. A photo of a charger on a Highfields carport wall does more than a stock image ever will.

Solar and battery installation

Solar and batteries deserve their own pages, separate from general electrical work. If you do both, consider one page for solar, one for batteries, and one for adding a battery to existing solar. That last group is a big market, because so many Queensland homes already have panels.

Each page should explain what the system does, who it suits, what affects the price and how the rebate works. Write it for a homeowner, not an engineer.

Answer the cost question

"EV charger installation cost" gets about 700 searches a month on its own. People want a ballpark before they call.

You don't have to publish a fixed price. A typical range, or a "from" price with a clear list of what changes it, is enough. Explain the usual cost drivers: cable run length, switchboard upgrades, the charger itself and three-phase power. Honest pricing builds trust and filters out people who were never going to book.

Explain the battery rebate in plain English

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program has driven huge interest in home batteries. It gives households a discount of around 30% on an eligible battery, delivered through small-scale technology certificates. In most cases the installer applies the discount on the quote, so the customer doesn't apply to the government directly.

The rules changed on 1 May 2026. The discount now depends more on battery size, and it steps down every six months instead of once a year. Customers are confused, and that's an opportunity.

A clear rebate page on your website can:

Keep this page up to date. The rules change, and an out-of-date rebate page costs you trust quickly. Put a "last updated" date at the top.

Put your accreditation up front

For the battery discount, the installer must be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia, and the battery must be approved by the Clean Energy Council. Customers who've read about the program will look for this.

Show it clearly on your solar and battery pages, not just your About page:

In a category with a lot of national retailers and pushy sales calls, a local electrician with clear credentials stands out.

Add these services to your Google Business Profile

Most local searches show the Google Maps results first. Your Google Business Profile should say clearly that you install EV chargers, solar and batteries.

If you'd like a hand with your profile and service pages together, that's what SEO for electricians covers.

Show local proof with project photos

Big-ticket buyers want proof you've done this before. A short project write-up does the job:

Each write-up is also a page that can rank for local searches. Over time, a dozen of these give you a strong local footprint. Good on-page SEO makes sure Google understands what each one is about.

Make sure AI tools can describe what you do

More people now ask ChatGPT or Google's AI Overviews questions like "who installs home batteries in Toowoomba?" These tools pull from websites, reviews and business listings. If your site clearly states what you install, where you work and what accreditation you hold, you're far more likely to be mentioned.

That's the idea behind AI search optimisation: clear, consistent information that AI tools can trust and repeat.

Build referral partners

Not every lead has to come from search. Some of the best EV and battery work comes through people who meet your customers first:

A short introduction and a reliable turnaround go a long way. When these partners refer you, customers still check your website, so the pages above help close those jobs too.

Win the jobs your competitors are ignoring

EV chargers, solar and batteries are where the growth is for many electricians. The businesses winning them online aren't doing anything complicated. They have a clear page for each job, honest pricing, an up-to-date rebate explainer, visible accreditation and real local photos.
