Who I work with

Who I work with
in Brisbane.

I'm Fonthip (Fon) Ward, an independent SEO consultant based in Toowoomba, Queensland. I help Brisbane service businesses get found on Google and recommended by AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews. Most of my clients are small to mid-sized businesses where one new client is worth a lot, and where trust decides who gets the call.

If you're looking for small business SEO in Brisbane, this is the work I know best. These are the businesses I work with most often. You can also see all the industries I work with.

✓
Dental practices
Patients search by treatment and suburb, then compare reviews and practitioners. I build treatment pages and local signals that help fill appointment books. Read more about SEO for dental practices.
✓
Law firms
Legal searches are high value and high trust. I help firms rank for their practice areas and build the authority that turns searches into enquiries. Read more about SEO for law firms.
✓
Health clinics
GPs, physios, psychologists and allied health. Google holds health content to a higher standard, so accuracy, credentials and clear information matter more. See how I work with medical clinics.
✓
Trades
Electricians, plumbers, roofers and builders. Most calls come from the map pack and urgent local searches, so speed and reviews matter. Read more about SEO for tradies.
What I do

What a Brisbane SEO specialist
actually does for you.

Hiring an SEO specialist in Brisbane should mean one person who understands every part of your search presence. SEO isn't one task. It's a set of jobs that work together. AI search isn't an add-on in any of it. Every campaign is built to show up in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, as well as the normal search results.

SEO consulting
Audits, strategy sessions and roadmaps for teams who want expert direction but do the work themselves. Start with SEO consulting if you need clarity before committing to more.
Managed SEO
I run your SEO month to month. Strategy, content, technical fixes, links and reporting, all handled by me. It suits businesses that want SEO handled for them. See how managed SEO works.
AI search optimisation
If you're after AI SEO in Brisbane, this is where it lives. I structure your content, entities and business details so AI tools understand you and cite you. Read more about AI search optimisation.
Technical SEO
Speed, crawling, indexing, schema and site structure. If Google can't read your website properly, nothing else works as well as it should. Read more about technical SEO.
On-page SEO
Titles, headings, content and internal links that match how your customers search. On an existing website, it's often the fastest win. See what on-page SEO covers.
Link building
Earned links from relevant Australian and Brisbane sources, like industry associations, local media and partners. No paid link packages. Read more about link building.

If your customers find you through the map pack, local SEO in Brisbane is part of the work too. That means your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and suburb pages.

Consultant or agency?

SEO consultant vs SEO agency:
which suits your business?

When people search "SEO consultant Brisbane", they're often weighing up an agency as well. There are good Brisbane SEO consultants and good agencies. The real difference is who does the work and who is accountable for it.

With most agencies, you meet a senior person during the sales process. The day-to-day work then goes to an account manager and a team you rarely speak to. That model suits some businesses, especially larger ones that need a lot of people working across many channels at once.

For most small and mid-sized businesses, one accountable specialist is a better fit. You work with me directly, from the first call to the monthly report. Nothing gets lost in a handoff. If something isn't working, you hear it from the person who can fix it.

People sometimes ask me who is the best SEO in Brisbane. Honestly, it depends on what you need. The right fit for a dental practice isn't the right fit for a national retailer. Look for SEO experts in Brisbane who have worked with your type of business, report clearly and explain their thinking.

You work with me directly
No account manager and no junior handoff. The person on your strategy call is the person doing the work.
One person is accountable
If results slip, there's nobody else to point to. That keeps the work honest and the communication clear.
Senior experience on every task
14 years of hands-on SEO, including years delivering campaigns behind the scenes for Australian marketing agencies.
When an agency may suit you better
If you need paid ads, social media, design and SEO from one large team, an agency can make sense. Some agencies do excellent work. If I think you'd be better served elsewhere, I'll tell you.

Before you sign anything

Red flags when hiring
SEO in Brisbane.

Most SEO specialists in Brisbane are honest and do good work. Still, a few warning signs are worth knowing before you hire anyone, including me. If you spot any of these, ask more questions. Already with a provider and thinking of moving? Read my guide to switching SEO providers without losing traffic or leads.

Guaranteed rankings. Nobody controls Google's results. A promise of page one by a set date is a sales line, not a plan.
Paid link packages. Buying links in bulk breaks Google's guidelines and can hold your website back for years. Good links are earned.
Long lock-in contracts. If a provider needs a 12 or 24 month contract to keep you, ask why the results alone aren't enough.
Reports full of vanity metrics. Impressions and keyword counts look good on paper. Ask how the work connects to enquiries, calls and revenue.
No mention of AI search. People now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews for recommendations. An SEO plan for 2026 should cover both.
You never speak to the person doing the work. If you only ever talk to sales or account managers, you can't ask the hard questions.
Common problems

Why your Brisbane website
isn't ranking.

Before you hire anyone, it's worth checking the basics. These are the problems I find most often when I audit service business websites. Most of them are fixable, and some are quick.

Pages that don't say what they're about
Page titles like "Home" or "Services" tell Google nothing. The same goes for headings that don't match how people search, and images with no alt text or file names like "slider1.jpg". Each page needs clear signals about the service and the place.
One page trying to rank for everything
A single services page that lists everything you do rarely ranks for any of it. Each main service, and often each key suburb, needs its own page that answers that search properly.
Not enough useful content
Short pages with a few lines of text don't answer the questions customers ask. Google and AI tools both favour pages that explain the service, the process, the cost and what to expect.
Weak authority
If few relevant Australian websites link to you or mention you, Google has little reason to trust you over competitors. In Brisbane, many of those competitors have been building links for years.
Technical problems you can't see
Slow loading, broken mobile layouts, pages blocked from Google, duplicate pages and messy redirects all hold rankings back. Most business owners never know these issues are there.
A neglected Google Business Profile
Wrong categories, missing services, no recent photos and few new reviews. For most local service businesses, the map pack brings in a big share of calls, and your profile decides whether you're in it.
Generic AI-written content
Pages churned out by AI tools tend to say what every other website says. Google rewards content that shows real experience and answers questions well. Generic copy rarely does either.

If you recognise a few of these, an audit is usually the best place to start. It shows which problems matter most for your business, and in what order to fix them.

The process

How I work:
four clear steps.

Every engagement follows the same four steps. It starts with an audit, so we work from facts, not guesses.

01
Audit
A close look at your website and your market

I review your website, rankings, Google Business Profile, competitors and how you show up in AI search. If you only need an SEO audit in Brisbane before deciding anything else, this step can stand on its own.

  • Technical and on-page review
  • Competitor and keyword research
  • AI search visibility check
02
Priorities
A plan ranked by impact

You get a clear list of what to fix and build first, and why. Quick wins come early. Bigger projects are scheduled properly, so nothing important gets rushed.

  • Prioritised roadmap
  • Plain-English explanations
  • Agreed goals and measures
03
Implementation
The work gets done

Technical fixes, page improvements, content, local SEO and link building, carried out in the order the plan sets. What I take on depends on what your project needs. Some clients want me to handle all of it. Others have a developer or team for parts of the work, and I guide them through it.

  • Technical and on-page fixes
  • Content and local signals
  • Ethical link building
04
Reporting
Reporting you can actually read

You get shared reporting and a plain summary of what I did, what changed and what comes next. We go through it together on a video call.

  • Shared reporting
  • Plain-English summary
  • Video call check-ins

No lock-in contracts. I recommend committing to SEO for 6 to 12 months, but you're never locked in. If you decide to stop, I just ask for 30 days notice.

Here's why I recommend that timeframe. SEO compounds. Most of the payoff shows from month 4 to 6 onwards, as new pages get indexed, links build up and rankings settle. Giving it 6 to 12 months lets the work build properly, instead of chasing quick wins that don't last.

Results

Results,
in my clients' words.

I don't publish made-up numbers. Here's what clients have said about working with me. If you're comparing options for the best SEO in Brisbane, ask any Brisbane SEO experts you're considering for reviews from real clients.

★★★★★

Fonthip is an excellent digital marketing professional who I would (and do) recommend to anyone who wants real results. Whenever we have any available marketing budget we turn to Fon and it feels like she waves a magic wand and then the leads start pouring in. Fon is always patient and informative with non-marketers who need help understanding things. Don't look anywhere else!

★★★★★

Used this consultant for a SEO project for a Brisbane-based business a few years ago. Was able to get the increases to organic traffic desired, under budget and with a good timeframe. Would recommend them now they are also servicing Toowoomba.

★★★★★

Fon audited our new website and built us an SEO strategy that finally gave us a clear direction. She has a way of explaining SEO without the jargon. My only regret is not bringing her in during the build phase. If you're planning a new website, talk to Fon before you brief your developer. You'll save yourself time, money, and a lot of headaches.

Pricing

What SEO costs
in Brisbane.

If you've been comparing SEO prices in Brisbane, you'll know quotes vary a lot. My ongoing SEO work ranges from $1,500 to $10,000 a month. That's a wide range, so here's what moves a business along it.

How competitive your market is
A Brisbane law firm competes with far more established websites than a regional tradie does. More competition means more work to rank.
How big your website is
A ten-page website and a 500-page website need very different amounts of technical and content work.
How much content and link building you need
If key pages are missing, or your website has few quality links, building them takes steady work each month.
One location or many
Each extra location needs its own pages, Google Business Profile work and local signals.

Most small local service businesses sit toward the lower end of the range. Multi-location businesses, and those in highly competitive markets, sit toward the higher end. Good SEO in Brisbane is an investment, so I'll give you a clear quote after the strategy call, based on what your business actually needs. If you'd rather start smaller, one-off consulting is also available.

Working together

Working with a Brisbane SEO consultant
from Toowoomba.

A Brisbane SEO expert who isn't based in Brisbane might sound odd. In practice, it makes very little difference. I'm based in Toowoomba, about two hours west of Brisbane. My Brisbane clients and I work together through video calls, shared reporting and email when something comes up. You don't need me in the room for the work to get done.

When an in-person meeting helps, like a kick-off session or a strategy workshop with your team, I can meet you in Brisbane.

Brisbane is a different market from Toowoomba. Service searches in Brisbane are far more competitive. There are more businesses in the map pack, more established websites and more agencies working for your competitors. That's why Brisbane strategies usually need suburb-level targeting and stronger authority, where a regional business can often rank with less.
